Esther White
Maths Australia
Esther White is a mother of five daughters who has extensive hands-on homeschooling experience. Esther is also the Founder and Director of Maths Australia, and will be sharing with you a methodology of teaching maths that equips you - the teacher – with all the tools you need to give your student(s) a firm foundation in understanding maths. By integrating visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning, every student is able to grasp the tools they need to succeed in truly mastering maths.
Esther’s professional skills have grown from supporting parents & homeschooling groups, to encompass the development of whole-school programmes to teach numeracy according to each student’s individual learning needs, and unique learning styles and abilities. Esther’s most recent work has been in expanding the scope of Maths Australia to assist remedial education for students with learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia and specialised learning needs of those students with varying levels of autism.
Having home educated her five daughters in rural Victoria, Esther understands the vital importance of educational programmes which cater to a range of abilities and ages. She knows the importance of ease of use for parents and educators to implement in the classroom, in the home, in everyday life. Her quest to discover the best educational programmes for her own children led Esther to the realisation that multisensory engagement – visual, auditory, kinaesthetic – was essential to develop a deep, thorough, generative learning framework for students. Her research led her to the award-winning Math-U-See Curriculum, and the development of their K-12 Australian Metric Edition.
So, ask yourself : does the thought of teaching my child maths excite me? And what about learning with them as they grow? Do you feel confident that you can teach maths in a sequential and easy-to-understand way that will also be fun for you and your students? Are you passionate about your child’s right to develop a comprehensive, practical mathematics foundation, and to build a lifelong love of learning? Surely, there’s so much more to every child’s education that goes far beyond merely rote learning a whole bunch of rules just to pass an exam!
At our conference, Esther will share with you both her professional and her life experience in using and sharing Maths Australia’s Math-U-See programme. You will come away knowing that you can teach maths to your children with ease and joy, and that they can understand, truly master and integrate it in every day life.
